Experience
We work across many sectors, for a diversity of clients, many of whom are household names. Some of our sector experience is described below.

National Government
E H Sciences has played a key role in the development of UK government guidance on land contamination risk management. Most recently, this has involved being technical lead on Defra's Category 4 Screening Levels project.

Power
E H Sciences works extensively in the power sector, including distribution network operators (DNOs). Diverse challenges, involving water management and historic oil pollution, are cost-effectively worked through, while keeping protection of the environment paramount.

Brownfield Site Redevelopment and Contaminated Land
E H Sciences frequently provides specialist advice on the human health risks from land contamination associated with brownfield site redevelopment and contaminated land. Both routine and unusual contaminants have been considered, via a diversity of exposure pathways, and for the protection of a variety of receptors (including groundwater). Tier 3 Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment (DQRA) is a speciality.

Financial
E H Sciences provides advice to investors and funders on potential environmental liabilities associated with investment proposals, as part of financial due diligence processes. Current and future legislative drivers are typically considered, as are potential financial impacts on assets and cash flow.

Legal
E H Sciences provides expert witness services in various legal settings, including planning inquiries and environmental enforcement cases, as well as contract disputes and libel claims.

Oil and Gas
E H Sciences works with oil and gas companies, in relation to the remediation of legacy contamination and site decommissioning. Projects have been undertaken across the UK, as well as in Africa and the Middle East.

Defence
E H Sciences provides specialist support to land contamination risk management projects. This has involved toxicological evaluations and risk assessment of exotic substances produced during explosives manufacturing.

Telecoms
E H Sciences undertakes ingress water forensic analysis and flood risk modelling studies. Telecoms sector flood defence plans have been assessed, within the context of the resilience requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act.

Regulatory Support
E H Sciences supports environmental regulators with scientific analysis and risk assessment of potentially contaminated land, on occasion. Assistance has been provided under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, in order to protect householders and residents from unacceptable health risks.
